Discovery

First of all, we just want to say thank you to all of you. We have received many phone calls and emails--please be assured, we have received them, we just have not had a chance to respond individually to all of the emails.

Many people are wondering what made Jason even go to the doctor in the first place. Jason has been having headaches and short episodes of losing his vision (10 seconds, 3-4 times a week) in one of his eyes. Initially, we thought the headaches were migraines and he saw the doctor for it--the doctor seemed to think the same thing. However, in January, Jason decided he needed to go back to the doctor because something just didn't seem right. So he went to the doctor last Thursday, Jan. 17th and the doctor ordered to have an MRI just to rule out all possibilities. Jason had the MRI done on Sat. Jan. 19th. He received the information about the brain tumor on Monday, Jan. 21st. We then saw the neurosurgeon on Tues, Jan. 22nd. We decided that we need to find out what the tumor is before we can make any decisions as to what we are going to do next. We feel very comfortable with our neurosurgeon and feel that we have made the right decision on having him do the initial surgery to obtain a sample of the tumor. The sample will be sent to the Mayo Clinic to be looked at by the neuropathologists there. It will probably be 7-10 days before we will know anything after the surgery has occured.
